Hey Boo! Are you looking for a little Halloween inspiration this year? Look no further I have you covered.

Happy Halloween from Dimension with NEFF!

Halloween is my favorite time of year, so I tend to go a little overboard. I love Halloween for so many reasons. To me it’s all about expressing your creativity, it doesn’t have to be scary. We can make it pretty, a tad spooky and a lot of fun! On this BLOG we are looking at Decorating your home, making a gorgeous door wreath with NEFF and baking some easy yummy gingerbread biscuits (my own recipe) which will fill your house full of gorgeous smells.

Halloween is the time to bake, decorate and to bring our childish side out….

There is no pressure to buy gifts or entertain everyone with Halloween. It’s an anything goes time that can be as simple or as over the top as you envision it. Over the past eight months we, at Dimension have been taking you through all the best design tips to having the most spa like bathrooms and smartest kitchens out but we thought as Halloween is such a fun time… I would share what Halloween means to me personally.

Decorating

Let’s get creative with colour! The usual oranges and blacks are always around in the Autumn but don’t be afraid to use pinks, purples or lighter shades of orange when decorating, neutrals and black look beautiful together too. Above all just do what makes you happy!

How can you make a small but dramatic décor change?

Soft furnishings are the answer….cushions, garlands and throws can make such a difference to a look of a room. Focus on a colour then accessorise…..

Take an area in your kitchen, for example the coffee station. Use those cupboard hidden cake stands to give height and go to town with lots of spiders, pumpkins, mini disco balls, fake cobwebs (shops like Hobbycraft, The Range and Crafter Companions are full of exciting Halloween inspiration at minimal cost)…of course it is always nice to have something delicious on the cake stand…so how about doing a spot of baking…..but first time to decorate your door to really shout ‘Halloween is happening here’…

Let’s make a Halloween wreath with NEFF. It’s time to bring in the Autumn colours and adorn your home.

Get Baking!

Fill your kitchen with the glorious smell of cinnamon, ginger and sugar with these freshly baked goodies…what’s not to love? Get the kids involved and sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour….

Recipe Idea: Gingerbread Biscuits

You will need:

  • A Baking Tray
  • Ghost, Witch, Bat or Pumpkin shape cutters

Ingredients: (makes 25 biscuits)

  • 350g plain flour
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 100g chilled butter
  • 100g light muscovado sugar
  • 1 medium egg
  • 3 tbsp golden syrup
  • Coloured fondant icing
  • Writing icing

Method:

Heat oven to 170c fan. Cut a piece of baking paper and place on baking tray. Sieve flour into a bowl then add ginger, cinnamon and bicarbonate of soda. Mix the small chunks of butter into flour. Use your fingers to rub together until it looks like breadcrumbs then stir in sugar.

Break the egg into a small bowl and beat then add to syrup and mix into flour bowl. Squeeze mixture together with your hands until it forms a dough. (If the dough still hasn’t come together add a tiny bit more syrup) Cover in cling film and rest for 30 minutes in fridge.

Sprinkle flour and a light covering of cinnamon onto a clean surface and roll dough out until it is 5mm thick. Use cutter to make your biscuits. Place on baking paper with gap between and bake for 10-12 minutes. When you can smell them, they are ready to come out and cool.

Wait until they are completely cool before icing your spooky designs. Enjoy!

Cheers! Happy Halloween from the Dimension Team!

Get creative with the cocktails or mocktails….Have fun with those extra touches of skeleton decoration, blackberries, gummy teeth, sweety eyeballs and plastic spiders…
